Persuasion is an umbrella term of influence. Persuasion can attempt to influence a person’s beliefs, attitudes, intentions, motivations, or behaviors. We have various ideas. It's an important point of persuasion how to explained your idea and how to convincing them. For example Tanita Kok wrote about death and how to live through a life.Tanita uses Ethos, Pathos, Logos very well in the essay and convinces a reader effectively. I'll explain how she convinces a reader.
"An apt quotation is like a lamp which flings its light over the whole sentence." (Letitia Elizabeth Landon）Used effectively, quotations can provide important pieces of evidence and lend fresh voices and perspectives to your narrative. Tania uses this method. She putting a quotation at the beginning of paragraph that will be giving a hint to a reader. Her idea gives a strong impression to a reader by using this. She uses a quotation as Ethos. And it's being appealed to an audience by feeling in Pathos after it. This is very effective and general method.
Why is Pathos Critical for Speakers? If you utilize pathos well , your audience will feel the same emotions that you do.Your audience will feel the pain, the joy, the hope, and the fear of the characters in your stories. Tanita’s use of pathos in her essay is well. Readers would be able to imagine a story more in detail by her word choice. “King Lycaon was inhumane and arrogant, filled with vanity, greed and bestial thoughts.”(Tania) For example the character of Lycaon is transmitted through these sentences well for a reader. The reason is because she uses an accurate word. Reader would know the meaning of the behavior of Zeus that after he met to Lycaon by this sentence. And also, reader would be able to see an same image of Lycaon as Tanita.
One of the most important elements of creating a persuasive argument is to use evidence.
A reader would be convinced the persuasion by using evidence. “death is inevitable, so is oblivion”(Tanita) Before writing these sentences, Tanita explained to a reader what is death. She's telling an idea to her thought about death in her conclusion. Her opinion and idea are very strong. But if she wasn't telling evidence first, that a reader would be difficult convinced her opinion. Because it can be felt closer as reader's" actuality" as well as writer's insistence by making the example in the real world evidence for a reader.
“The most important persuasion tool you have in your entire arsenal is integrity.” (Zig Ziglar) When you use a skill as persuasion, need is indispensable for Ethos, Pathos and Logos. Those have strengthened her opinion in the Tanita's essay. And it was enabled to change reader's opinion. Technology skillful at her is emphasized from her essay.
Persuasion is the ability to influence. And persuasion is the most important skill you can develop. Because without it, your ideas won't get traction.
